At JM Edwards Jewelry, we’ve been repairing and servicing jewelry here in Raleigh since 1974.

We have an in-house team of several goldsmiths, GIA graduates, and jewelry designers who stand by to help bring your jewelry back to working order.

Whether it's a sentimental heirloom or an everyday favorite, we'll treat it with the care it deserves. We perform simple repairs like fixing broken clasps, to full-on restorations. As a full-service shop with an in-house team of goldsmiths and designers, no job is too big or too small for our team.

What types of jewelry can you repair?

We can service and repair nearly all types fine jewellery pieces: rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and pendants, and so forth.

Furthermore, we work with a wide variety of precious metals - silver, platinum, gold of different colors and karats, etc.

How long does repairing a piece of jewelry take?

Most repairs take about two to three weeks, since the work is done in-house by our goldsmiths. Simple jobs can move faster, and detailed restoration takes longer. Bring your piece in and we’ll give you a realistic timeline.

How much does it cost to repair my jewelry?

It depends on the piece and the work involved, so we don’t quote prices over the phone. When you bring it in, we’ll look it over and give you an exact quote before anything begins — and you won’t pay until the repair is finished.

Do you work on vintage or heirloom pieces?

We do, and they’re some of our favorite work. Older and inherited pieces get extra care from our goldsmiths, and we’ll walk you through your options before we touch anything.

Appraisals

Utilizing our American Gem Society-approved lab, we offer appraisal services for insurance replacements and determining fair market value of your piece. Our Senior Gemologist, Michael Edwards, brings over forty years of experience to ensure a thorough evaluation of each item. Jewelry purchased from J.M. Edwards with a value over $3,000 includes a complimentary appraisal. For items purchased elsewhere, appraisals typically start at $150 for the first item, with additional pieces costing between $100 and $150, depending on complexity. All appraisals are conducted at our Cary location, and the timeframe varies based on the intricacy of the item.

Cleanings & Inspections

We highly recommend having your important jewelry items cleaned and checked at least once a year. Regular inspections are the best way to protect against losing a stone or the entire piece, especially with necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. Over time, settings can wear down, and pins and hinges may weaken. By addressing these issues early, we can help prevent potential losses.We offer this service at no charge, and it can usually be done while you wait.
