Diamond Selection Guide
Choosing the Perfect Diamond
The center stone sets the stage.
Our Jewelry and Design Specialists have been trained to help you pick your perfect diamond. The 4Cs— cut, color, clarity, and carat weight—are the universal standards for assessing the quality of a diamond, but your overall style preference and budget matter most. We are here to guide you through the selection with knowledge and the understanding that this is your unique and personal piece– a diamond that reflects you.
CUT
The cut determines how light interacts with the stone– what makes it sparkle. Whether a round brilliant or a fancy cut, look for excellent precision, symmetry, and polish to maximize brightness.
COLOR
All white diamonds come with a natural, slightly yellow tint. The color of a diamond is graded on a scale from “D”, colorless, to “Z”, light yellow. After the cut, color is the next factor that affects the overall look to the naked eye.
CLARITY
Diamond clarity is a measure of the purity of the stone, graded by the visibility of inclusions (internal characteristics) and blemishes (external imperfections) under magnification.
CARAT WEIGHT
Carat refers to the weight of the diamond. Two diamonds of the same carat weight can vary in visual size depending on the cut. In other words, the carat weight does not necessarily denote how large a diamond appears.
