122.5 Carat Blue Diamond Unearthed!

Diamond mining group Petra Diamonds has found a 122.5 carat blue diamond at their Cullinan mine in South Africa. The company is still evaluating this “exceptional” stone and has not yet determined a price.  In 2010, a 507 carat white stone sold for $35.5 million, making it the highest amount paid on record  for a rough diamond. Experts expect Petra’s latest find to surpass that record.  Blue is one of the rarest diamond colors, making this a particularly significant discovery!
